Team Communication: From a Group to a True Team

Based on Patrick Lencioni’s “Five Dysfunctions of a Team”

Is your team truly a team – or just a group of people? This question becomes the starting point for a transformation that can change not only your work results but also your internal culture.

Our team coaching session (8–16 hours) is based on the methodology of world-renowned expert Patrick Lencioni, developed from over 30 years of working with a wide variety of teams. It is a proven way to:

  • better understand yourself and your colleagues,

  • see your team from the outside,

  • identify strengths and areas for improvement,

  • and ultimately – build a dream team.

Group or Team?

Team: interdependence, shared commitment, the ability to set goals and make decisions together.

Group: independent relationships, individual commitments, goals determined by others, decisions made through conformity.

This simple comparison becomes the starting point for participants: What do we need to do to move from a group to a true team?

The 5 Biggest Team Dangers

Patrick Lencioni highlights 5 dysfunctions that can undermine even the strongest teams. One is enough to start the breakdown. During the session, we will discuss them, and most importantly – explore how each can be turned into an opportunity for growth.

What are these 5 dysfunctions? What are the greatest team dangers?

Practical Methods During the Session

  • Small group work – clearly identifying where we are now and what prevents us from moving forward

  • Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) – discovering your own and your colleagues’ thinking filters (metaprograms) that determine communication success

  • Calibration and rapport – learning how to build real harmony within the team

  • Gestalt theatre therapy – not only discussing relationships but also creating new experiences in practice, freeing the team from old patterns

Together, we will answer 7 essential questions: What do I avoid doing in the team? What potential am I suppressing? Which limiting beliefs are holding me back, and what can I change right now?

The Result – A Concrete Action Plan

Each subgroup presents its insights, and then, with the coach’s guidance, the entire team creates one shared action plan:

  • How to turn dangers into opportunities?

  • What will each of us do differently to move from a group to a true team?

Recipe for a Successful Team

According to P. Lencioni, victories are not determined by a collection of the most talented individuals, but by simple, human relationships, trust, the courage to engage in constructive conflict, and the ability to pursue a common goal.

The goal of this session: to turn 5 dangers into 5 opportunities, and build a strong, confident, and effective team.

Qualities of an Effective Team:

Emotional Culmination Experience

At the end of the session – a powerful, transformative practice:

  • Walking on glass, or
  • Walking on fire (weather permitting).

The knowledge that we can walk across fire or glass has the power to change our lives. Even if we don’t physically take on the challenge, simply realizing it opens up new possibilities – we become healthier, stronger, and more motivated. Why? Because this experience proves that our thoughts influence absolutely everything – from emotions to physical reactions. Thoughts change brain chemistry, which affects the entire body. People who think positively experience a completely different quality of life – less stress, more energy, and better results. So why not take the challenge?

Why is it worth it?

This methodology is your team’s path to new heights.

During the session, participants:

  • Discover their role within the team

  • Gain a deeper understanding of each other

  • Learn about the 5 biggest “diseases” (dysfunctions) of a team and how to avoid them

  • Transform risks into opportunities

  • Create a shared action plan that truly works
